High Quality Materials

Premium Quality

The Linwood performax system gives you an extensive choice of materials that offer premium performance and will also be cost effective during installation. Choosing the right design and materials allows for best construction practices and can save a lot of labor. It is hard to find experienced trades and construction labor is expensive. As a consequence the use of higher quality material not only gives you a better result but can result in substantial cost savings.

Here are some examples of the value of premium materials:

  • Linwood 1x6 channel siding is 20% thicker than competing products. It is a full ?·thick and consists of premium grade kiln dried, combed face, select tight knot material. This allows for faster & easier installation than bevel siding. Unlike bevel siding it is consistent in thickness giving maximum resistance to cupping. The combed face finish allows best application and retention of stain.
  • Our quality kiln dried cedar products result in less waste, less cutting, less splitting, minimal shrinkage requiring less caulking after application.
  • Our premium export grade lumber results in straighter walls, easier to drywall, fewer nail-pops, better painting results and makes it easier to attach liner, moldings & trim.
  • Laminated Douglas fir beams are sealed which protects them from staining during storage and construction. This is a cost effective, esthetically pleasing product available in a wide variety of sizes to meets structural loading requirements.
  • Our solid vaulted rafter system allows for cost effective and easy installation, without the need for expensive and labor intensive reinforcing of cantilevered overhangs common to I-joist roofing systems.
  • Plywood flooring is a select T&G with filled knots resulting in a smooth face which allows tile and hardwood to be applied without the added cost of underlayment.
  • Sill plates are treated with environmentally friendly borate, allowing the use of conventional hardware. Other suppliers may use cheaper ACQ treated sill plates which corrode conventional hardware.
  • Linwood uses non-corrosive Z-max hangers and stainless steel screws for deck, porches and exterior stair connections to pressure treated lumber.
  • All our windows, patio doors and railing systems include tempered glass where required by code.
  • Basement interior loadbearing walls or nail-lam beams are included in the house package, unlike others who only include material to build from the main floor upwards.
  • Linwood offers the widest selection of windows in the industry, chosen for low maintenence, high energy efficiency, contemporary looks and availability in multiple shapes and sizes. Vinyl, wood and metal clad products are available in a multitude of opening systems and color options.

Premium Materials

There is a wide range of building materials available in the marketplace. All have different uses in construction, performance characteristics, quality levels and price points. Premium building materials are generally not available at building supply yards and long lead times are common for specialty items. They are manufactured to meet our special standards for performance and appearance.

Literally thousands of components may be required to build a single home. To get the maximum value in the finished home it is important to select the right combination and quantity of building materials. Identifying, sourcing and delivering these materials cost effectively to your site requires special expertise. Dealing with changes, shortages and overages can become expensive during construction.

Linwood has special expertise driven by proprietary software in material take-off and quantity survey. We offer an unparalleled selection of material specifications for use in the construction of post & beam, timber-frame, log, conventional and hybrid homes.
